I am an end of life, death doula with a kind heart and lots of life experience. I have specific expertise with natural practices including home funerals and nature-based comfort. I am a forager, herbal and natural medicine enthusiast, Tibetan Buddhist practitioner, mother, and grandmother. I am a free spirit. I love.
Each of us has an opportunity to experience a respectful and empowering death. This is a choice we can make. We all die, it is part of life. Now is the best time to plan, design, and embrace our end of life vision.
I can help with planning, companionship, overnight care, home deaths, herbal comforts, rituals, vigils, memoirs, support for loved ones, home funerals, eco options, traditional arrangements, carrying out wishes, and grief. Whatever matters most to you, matters most to me. I am not a nurse or legal expert. I am a guide and comfort.
Please reach us at beth@leaveonagoodnote.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We shy away and avoid death as if it's not going to happen. We approach it as if it is horrible and tragic. When we do address death, it is most often through the lens of laws, insurance, and medical systems. We hire professionals for almost every other aspect of our life, yet not for our final stretch. Death doulas offer empowerment, comfort, and support. They help navigate a time that is profound and deeply meaningful. They ensure that we end our life in the best possible ways, the ways that we choose. They also offer reprieve and support to our loved one's so that they too can handle our transition in the best possible way.
This is the right question to ask! How do I know who is the right doula for me? Once you consider the incredible opportunity of working with a doula, it is important to find the doula who is right for you. You don't need to select someone from the same faith tradition or life background as you. The right doula is someone who will respect, listen, and empower you to make your own decisions. This person will tell it to you straight, face your transition with you, and represent your wishes s even, and especially, when you reach a point that you may no longer be able to. Find the person who feels right and trust your intuition.
If you are perfectly healthy with no reason to suspect your death awaits you in the foreseeable future, you may want to consider a consultation just to begin creating a vision. If that seems too scary or too soon, just set your mind to learning more.
If you are in a place in your life that you are more conscious of the time ahead versus the time behind you, it would be a great time for a consultation. Now is the time to sort out your desires and priorities.
If you are dying and don't want to face it alone, get an ally and find your doula now.
End of life doulas are traditionally not covered by insurance or hospice. You cover the costs directly. Its a gift you give yourself and your family. You may not have the option of selecting the nursing, hospice, and medical caregivers who may help you, but you can select your doula. This is your choice. Your doula will work with your family and other caregivers in support of your wishes. Doula rates range from $20 to $100+ hour depending on the specific types of help.
We chat. This is an opportunity for you, and your loved ones if you'd like, to discuss your wishes. There is no fee for this and there is no expectation of what will come after. It will be my honor to answer your questions and learn about your life.
